My External USB HD Verbatim 500Gig, freezes my computer during a reboot either soft or hard reboot if I dont switch the HD off. It doesnt even get through the Bios, it just does a memory scan and then hangs, until I switch off the HD and reboot the system.

Is there anyway I can solve this issue, so I dont have to keep switching the HD off n back on everytime I reboot the system?

I have tried this, but it still insists in looking at the USB, the same problem occurs.

i have a customer who just had the same problem this past week. it ended up it was his 1 touch maxtor external hd causing the problem. if external hd not connected then main system boots ok but external hd connected then system hangs. almost positive it is the drive enclosure not the hd is the problem so same might apply to you.
