So recently I got invited to try Lord of the Rings Online. I thought my MMO days were over, but being a free to play game, I gave it a shot. For some reason everytime I try to run it, I can play for about 2-3minutes and then it freezes. If I hit ctrl alt del, there is an error message under the game saying my nvidia client had failed. This isn't the first time I couldn't get a game to load properly. It did the same with Age of Conan, and Oblivion also loaded poorly. My computer way more then meets the needs for the games, so I cant figure out whats wrong.

    Things Ive tried:
    -reinstalling nvidia drivers
-running all tools in Tune-Up Utilities 2011
    -defragging hard drive
-clearing out old program and files to create some room

    Specs:
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    3GB Ram
    Windows XP SP3

Anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this?

Well, I opened the computer up to check it, and it seems to be running fine. With the computer case open, I ran the game and I was able to play for like 10 minutes. So maybe its an overheating issue?

power supply has a fan, and there is just a general case fan.

the video card has one built on it, the case fan is on the back, below the power supply, but above the card slots.
