    Hi.

I recently installed VMWare Workstation 6.5.

Even when its services are stopped (through services.msc) and the tray icon is turned off (through the Task Manager), some of the functionality of Windows (XP) is severely disabled.

For example, whenever I plug in a new USB device, the Autorun feature doesn't show anything anymore. Also, pressing the Windows key and 'E', at the same time, does not bring up Windows Explorer, no matter how many times I try. And who knows what other things have been messed up, too?

What is up with that, and how can I fix it, please?
If I delete that piece-of-shit VMWare, will everything work the way it did before? (Man, if I had only known VMWare would do this...)

Thanks in advance to whoever is kind enough to help.

autorun from a usb device was deliberately disabled in the last round of xp "updates" .. nothing to do with vmware... more a failing of a bunch of retard shits who make windoze to address a malware problem that has gone on for 9 years before they "decided" to fix it.

"windows key and E" .. never heard of that before.. why the hell would you want to launch explorer (the root cause of WHY windoze is shit) like that anyway?.. guess it takes you to some hell obscure place like "my frikkin documents" or somewhere equally moronic eh?

probably just got "shortcut/hotkeys disabled wherever that setting is.. it's a long time since I used that crap.. as you can most probably tell.

That's not helping at all, man. Please don't reply if you don't want to help.

First of all, I didn't install any XP updates. The computer isn't even connected to the Internet. The only thing I installed is VMWare.

And second, why do you care why I want to open Explorer using a shortcut? And why is the location where it opens moronic?
The issue at hand is that it did use to open like that and, after VMWare was installed, it refused to do so.

Update: Okay, after not using VMWare for about a day, Windows key + E works now. But I noticed another weird issue. Whenever I plugged a USB stick before, it used to show up as "Removable Disk", or whatever, in Windows Explorer; now, the USB stick shows up as 5 1/4 Floppy Disk! (Yeah! Isn't that fucked up? What the hell is this VMWare garbage doing to Windows?)
