Over the past 3 weeks or so I've noticed my pc sound has dramatically gotten lower.
I'll have to turn my speakers full blast just to have it on the normal level it used to be on a daily bases.
The weird thing is that sometimes the volume will spike back up to the level of loudness it used to be for about 5 secs then go back to the very lower level volume again (and scare the stuffing out of me). I wont be doing anything on my pc and this will happen.

    Things i have tried

    - uninstalled my sound drivers and then reinstalled
    - unplugged and replugged my speakers into my pc
    - rebooted
    - checked that the volume knob was not lose or anything

So are there any type of fixes i can do, because this is a very annoying problem and scares me alot when it does it.

Never mind, i found out that its my speakers that are dying

Could anyone list some good cheap speakers (100$ or less)
Also, can a subwoofer from one company (altec lansing) work on another company's speakers?
