Having Problems installing MCFREEBOOT with AR MAX on my slim ps2

I been following this guide: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/armax.php

I put the .elf files on my flash drive like it says but when I boot up the max media player it only lets me see the .elf files in the install folder. They way I can see the other files is to delete the INSTALL folder leaving just the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF which doesn't work when I run it because the install folder is gone. I've tried a couple different flash drives and it does the same on all of them.

My flash drives are formatted to FAT32, when I tried just FAT the drive wouldn't even read.

I am using a white slim ps2, AR Max Evo and a 1gb flash drive (tried a memorex one and my psp)

I also had no luck trying the alternatives, such as using the FCEUltra.ELf or SwapMagic, of course with those it still only read out of the install folder.

I've been trying to figure this out all day but no luck for me. Am I doing something wrong?

Nevermind, it started working with my psp, I guess I just needed to reformat the memory card again.
