Hey guys, bougth a moded PS2 that wouldnt play OEM games, ps1, or dvd movies(even with the chip disabled). I took it apart and tried adjusting the laser height, and i did mark the wheels first(apparently later ones had two for some reason?). I also tried cleaning the laser with a Qtip and some windex, but now the discs wont even spin! I tried reconnecting data and power cables for the disc drive, but its no better. The drive when reset only moves the laser to the check point by spindle and then flash the laser and move it up and down twice.. What else could be wrong with it?? Thanks.

I would say you need a new laser. Good thing you marked the cog wheel.

If you have a FAT PS2, the laser isn't too terrible price now and for the slim its pretty cheap.

Just check ebay.

I just replace my laser in my V7 PS2 for a KHS 400Q. Paid like $30 for it and it works perfectly, Better than the 400c did.

Yes it works for V5-V11. Replaces the KHS 400c

This site shows it - link

Here is where I bought from on ebay - link

I just had to install, didn't even need to desolder anti static point. He did it previous.

This site shows the anti static points though anyway - link
