burning ps2 files to disk

i have tried and tried to burn ps2 files to disk that my friend gave to me.
you see he didnt make an iso he just copied and pasted and gave them to me now i burned them to a disk and stick it in the ps2 and it tells me to insert a formatting disk but i have a mod chip and play copied games but this burning myself doesnt work ive tried dvd decrypter,nero,blind write and a few others can someone please give me a step by step instructions on how to do it and make it play
