Help burning Devil May Cry

#1 04 Aug 2009 @ 2:36
Every attempt to burn a backup of Devil May Cry results in a coaster. I have been making burned copies for some time and every other game I have backed up works flawlessly. But this particular game always shows the Capcom screen then the violence disclaimer and stops at that screen. Each attempt looks like a winner but I get the same result each time. Anyone have this problem or, better yet, a solution?

I've gotten the most success with Alcohol 120% with Verbatim or Memorex DVD+R. Ive also tried Image Burn (& possibly DVD Decrypter)with no success. My boot method is Swap Magic 3.8 boot disc or elf. DVD writer is more or less brand new.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Try one of the fail burns again, but this time press X rapidly before/after the Violenc Disclaimer. Should boot, works for Swapmagic.

Unfortunately, it didn't work but thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it another shot tomorrow evening when my system cools down. Any other takers?

Its the TOC size I think. Devil May Cry has a bigger TOC than Swap Magic so it wont work.

Have you tried ESR? No swapping needed and that game works great!

Hi! I had the exact same problem with both the original and the back up Devil May Cry game. Even the original! It was weird...

Anyways, I use Swap Magic too, but I don't know which kind of ps2 you use. Mine was the slime version and I took out one of the tools you have to insert to make the ps2 think that the tray is closed and it worked.
The one I took out was the #B you see at the official website, for the slim, the one that is beside where the CD goes on. I took this out and just used my hand to hold it to make the CD rotate without the tool.
After changing the CD after the Swap Magic screen, I closed the top and it started working. Even my other games that didn't work started working.

So basically, what I did was
Take out #B tool for the ps2 slime

Try it and I hope it works!

Slime version? hahahah good one.

Well if you have swap magic i recomend installing Free MC Boot with it(easily) and just patch games with ESR patcher, that takes a split second to patch and then burn like always and swaping is a thing of the past! Its great just google for it.

Unfortunately, pressing x or start repeatedly doesn't solve my problem. I tried using ESR but for some reason ESR always boots to the ulaunch user interface after the screen flashed different colors.

Do you have the Greatest Hits version? That one does not work. I think only the Original version workds.

Also ESR will not work with Ps2 Slim Silver color. The black slim is OK.
