I was given an Xbox 360 console which came with a copy of PG4 game, which plays fine. Since it is able to play a copied game, Im assumming its been modified? How do I tell if it has a chip or if its been modded?

I need to know with more precision, as I want to do the Optional Media Update (via X-Box Live), and depending whether it's hardmod or softmod, I may have to find ways to unmod it. So here I'm asking the question OP asked, again, seeing that it's not properly answered: how do I tell if it has a chip or its been modded?

What are the signs? Where should I check? The dashboard? Or do I have to open up the console and see any changes on the motherboard?
