My Son bought a ACER C710 Chromebook recently, which has no internal dvd player so he has been trying for the last 2 weeks to load a External DVD player without success. Google Chrome post 'no codes' compatible with this player: also that is does not recognise most DVD external players; has any forums members got solution to this problem Any help would be greatly appreciated Amorer

Does this mean it literally cannot recognize the player?
Can the device actually play DVD video (mpeg2 type files) - for example if it's on a USB stick.
    Does it play mkv files?
If the dvd video was in an mkv container would it play it?

Thank you Attar for the prompt response. The device is shown on the bottom toolbar but will not play the dvd; on the help line you get a list of exts. that it will not recognise also a list of external devices it will not recognise, it also strongly recommends that you do not update it manualy because of the settings (auto) Yesterday chromebook issued a statement that it has updated its player in order to play dvds from their store (for which you pay) anyway I think that chromebook recognises that it has a problem once again thanks
