I have an older 65 inch rear projection tv that only supports 480i/480p/1080i via the component inputs. You can't use 720p.

I currently have all my other systems hooked up via a component cable switch box except for original xbox. I went to gamestop and bought the legacy component video cable which has og xbox connector on it.

When its hooked up to my television, all I get is a massive wavy green screen but I can barely make out the dashboard once in a while inbetween the flickering.

If I hook it up via composite, it works fine.

I go into the dashboard and goto system settings and then video (while in composite video mode), I can sucessfull8y change the video to widescreen but I have NO resolution choices whatsoever. I can't force 1080i or even 480p. I beleive my xbox is outputting at 720p which my tv can't support.

Any suggestions? I am wondering if my dashboard needs and update since this is an old model (2002?) and maybe was never updated before. How can I update the dashboard if that is needed since Live is now defunct for og xboxes?

Install XBMC and then from there you can tweak the resolution.
