After IE8 install, then revert to IE7, DVD Shrink won't work

#1 06 Dec 2009 @ 15:21
Hi all, I gave in to the "Install IE8" window that kept coming up, installed it, then found that DVD Shrink would not work, just closed after (or not) Reauthoring and clicking Back Up. I (think) I successfully removed IE8 and reverted to IE7 (downloaded and reinstalled IE7 - system seems to confirm I now have IE7), but it still doesn't work, same as above. I've removed and reinstalled DVD Shrink three times but same thing. I've been considering doing a disc wipe anyway and reinstalling my XP Home OS to get rid of a lot of crap, get back to factory specs, then reinstalling all my software and files anyway, and this may be my only alternative, unless any of you have any ideas or suggestions. Anything would be appreciated to put off a complete OS reinstall. Thanks.

Thanks folks, I look forward to trying your suggested solutions tonight. I will keep you posted and let you know if I am successful, will be good to know for others experiencing my problem. If I'm not, then I'd planned to do a complete reload of my OS anyway, I do it twice a year - seems the only way to truly rid my machine of all the crap. If you recommend any programs that can really satisfactorily do this without resorting to a complete OS reinstall that aren't too expensive then I'd be obliged to hear about them. I use CCleaner regularly (but may not have "Old Prefetch Data" selected), run Disc Cleanup often, and Defrag occasionally, but it is once again running more and more slowly. Thanks again.
