Use of MenuShrink w/ DVDShrink

I'm a newbie - looked in the extensive forum and did not find an answer, so sorry if this is redundent.
Where in the DVDShink process do I use MenuShrink? When I used it after progressing in DVDShrink to the step in which I backed up (wrote the compressed version of) the DVD to the C drive, I ended up with a disc that was only 3.65 GB. I tried to run MenuShrink w/ the DVD in the D:\ drive and ran into an error since there was no place to store the MenuShring back up / restore files. I tried to copy the movie to the C:\ but got an error.
The example inthe guide looks as though the movie is on a J drive which I assume is an external hard drive.
Any suggestions?

Of course you use Menushrink before shrinking the DVD with Shrink! That way Shrink does not have to apply as much compression to the movie itself which results in better quality.

I realized that I must run MenuShrink before compressing w/ DVDShrink when I ended up w/ the 3.65 GB product. The methods I have tried to do such have not been successful.
I was not successful in running Menushrink first w/ the DVD in the D: drive (got an error since the program couldn't place the back up menus to the source disk). Is there a way to set the output destination for MenuShrink as other than the location of the source folder?
I was also unable to copy the DVD to my HDD (the appendix of the DVDShrink guide example cites the source video on the J: drive; I assume the author of the guide copied the movie to an external J: HDD). I think I just opened the D: drive and tried to drag the video folders over to my desktop -- is there a better was to place an image of the souce DVD on my HDD so that I can run Menushrink from there?
I am running AnyDVD in the background.

Use
- AnyDVD to rip the complete DVD to your HDD.
- MenuShrink to shrink the menu.
- Shrink to encode to ISO.
- ImgBurn to burn.
- AnyDVD to rip the complete DVD to your HDD.
- MenuShrink to shrink the menu.

I went around in circles trying to track down DVDFab freeware. If someone would be kind enough to suggest a valid link for the version that will work best w/DVDShrink, I would appreciate your help.

Pretty sure it's this just clik the download button & install,you'll get a popup once you run prog for first time you can disable it by the tick box

EDIT:If all your wanting to do is rip & encode a DVD9 to a DVD5 disc or files that exceed the DVD5 set fab to DVD5 & you won't need DVDshrink or whatever menushrink does,just play with fabs settings
EDIT2: Clik the top DOWNLOAD BUTTON not the 2nd

Actually he does, DVDfab is only freeware when it comes to ripping as DVD9. If you encode the disc to DVD5 you gotta pay for it. That's where Shrink comes in.
Also, even if you use the paid for version Menushrink can shave off quite some MB which benefits overall video quality.

Thanks for the prompt replies and your suggestions. I will get back to you after I get time to act on them.
I have quite a bit to go on the learning curve (DVD's are a quantum leap more involved than CD's!!!), but luckily I have found this forum to get over the sticky points. Thanks again!
