Ok, so I need some help with this stuff. Maybe some info or advice since I don't really know what to expect here. I have to burn some movie files onto a DVD. Pretty standard stuff, mostly AVI, some mpeg. I have been using AVS video converter 6 but it's painfully slow! It also eats up my cpu like it has the munchies. I have a dual-core cpu and it just maxes out both cores unless I manually switch it to one core. It makes it extrememly hard to get anything else at all done on my PC. Aside from the slowness and high cpu usage that program is easy to use. Just put in the files and it automatically converts and burns them for me, which is what i prefer. I generally don't need any fancy schmancy menus or anything like that. Ok, so in my head I am thinking that there has to be a better, faster, more reliable DVD authoring program out there. Which is why I came here to ask for help and advice. I know that DVD authoring is an intensive operation but I have a pretty decent PC ( i would know. I built it myself) and if I can use DVDfab plat and copy a 2 hour long movie in 20 mins + 10 mins to burn it then I should be able to burn a DVD from a avi file in about the same or less and not 1 hour or more. Maybe i'm wrong and it takes longer. If i have the wrong idea someone please let me know lol So please.. some advice, program suggestions or comparisons would be nice. I let my PC do conversions overnight. A program like AutoGK can set up a queue of jobs and when your ready you can tell it to convert them. I also set the quality as a percentage instead of a fixed output size. That way it uses one pass.
attar, I was looking at AutoGK and that doesn't appear to be what I am looking for. I need a program that will take the .avi files and convert them into dvd files that can be burned onto a dvd and played in a standard dvd player. Autogk doesn't appear to do that
My mistake. AvsToDVD has a 'Jobs List' you can use for batch encoding. Add an avi to the top pane then add it to the jobs list. Remove from the top pane and open the next avi and add that to the list. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AVStoDVD
