Using Virtual Dub I am trying to join 3 AVI files together
They were originally Mpeg 2 files but I extracted them using Winrar and then converted using Any Fideo Converter
Now I want to join them together
I load first file in VirtualDub and an error message states
Couldn't locate decompressor for format XVID unknown
    and continues to wrire
Virtual Dub requires a video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to compress video
    Direct Shows Codecs not suitable
    Advice please

It's looking for an installed XviD codec on your PC.
You can check to see if VirtualDub has it listed if you click 'Video > 'Compression'

    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD_Codec

Note that for joining AVI files, AviDemux is more flexible and forgiving than VirtualDub.
