Joining AVI Files with AVI2DVD

I've checked a variety of other threads, but haven't seen others with this issue.
I've got a series of videos I downloaded from iTunes (m4v format). I converted them to AVI, but when I try to join them in AVI2DVD, it responds "Job NOT Done. There are warnings ... Find at the log file the 0 byte generated file to focus where exactly the problem appears". The log file contains nothing but this message.
I've named the files Vid CD1.avi, Vid CD2.avi etc., so that shouldn't be the issue.
The files are large, 330+Mb, 580+Mb, etc., is there a size limitation on the join function?
The files play fine after converting to AVI, so the file conversion seems OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

Do the AVI files have video and audio that AVI2DVD supports (e.g. XviD/DivX video, mp3 audio)?

Nope - no luck. Still fails.

If the files are same resolution, frame rate, audio, try Avidemux.
Load one avi then 'append' the next.
'File' > 'Open'
'File' > 'Append'
When saving the joined file remember to add the extension, e.g:
joined file.avi
Load one avi then 'append' the next.
'File' > 'Open'
'File' > 'Append'
When saving the joined file remember to add the extension, e.g:
joined file.avi
