Hello there,
I hope I have contacted the right department about the problem I have.
I have a NEC 3540A DVD RW Burner (which is a great little burner) and have had no problems whatsoever in burning onto various Discs. However, I have just tried to Use Memorex DVD-r blank discs and keep getting the message "this disc could be incompatible or you will need a more recent burner"
I have checked on the Internet and Memorex DVD-r seems to be a regular problem for this burner. I am just wondering if there is any updates I can download from NEC that will allow the burner to accept these discs.
Many thanks

The only firmware listed at the link is 1.04, you would have to check your version to see if it's earlier.
The likes of ImgBurn can tell you which firmware version you have (Tools > Drive > Capabilities).

The other thing to do it find the media code (manufacturer and type)
(see here for a listing of all known types for memorex dvd-r)
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmediasearch=memorex&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=1&size=All&dvdburnspeed=All&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media
Imgburn gives the Media Code.
Once you know the code, you can research it a little more.
(I have this drive myself and have never experienced this message).
