Is there an easy method for converting a PAL DVD to NTSC DVD while keeping the title and menus intact? Or do I have to re-author it from
    scratch after ripping?

    Thanks

If your player won't handle PAL disks, you can try the patch method.
There is no certainty that this will work on your player (I have two players that reject PAL disks;one,a Toshiba, will accept them after patching - the other, a Panasonic, chokes at the menu).
Another point to note is that PAL resolution is taller than NTSC - so the menu highlights may not line up exactly with the selections.

Note that on post#4 the image shows 'Number of Video Title Sets on this DVD:1' - you may have more title sets;keep scrolling down to see if there are more.

I'll give this a try on the new HP movie. The start menu effects and music is really cool. I wanted to keep them. It normally takes me hours to re-create the menus, scene selections, and re-encode the main movie to NTSC.
