how do i answer a touchscreen mobile phone??

    today i was moving some stuff with my sister and she went to the toilet and my mum rang her phone (which was on the kitchen counter).it was a sony xperia touchscreen.I couldnt see an answer key but i could see an icon on the screen that said answer.tryed pressing it and it didnt answer.can someone tell me the basics of answering a touchscreen mobile phone.
