How do I tether a motorola i776?

I am planing on buying a motorola i776 in the near future using boost mobile's unlimited plan on the iDen Network...and I have a few questions...

1. what hardware is needed?
2. what software is needed?
3. how much money (in general) is involved in hardware & software?
4. is there a charge if i use my phone as a modem (from boost mobile, aside from my monthly $50?
5. what is the process for using my phone as a modem?

I dont plan on doing this much but i make trips to areas where intent is hard to come by...thank you for reading
