motorola v3i only storing 20 messages please help,

    just bought a motorola v3i razr unlocked phone from Japan only to find out all the messages are stored on the sim,it has a 512 mb card and 11 mb internal memory but is saying nearly out of memory when any more text messages are coming in,how can i change the message location to the phone from the sim,is there any easy way to do this,thanks
