Memory Card not showing all photos

I have a Nikon D80, when i look at the image playback I have 138 photos, but when I plug it into my computer or printer it says I have 215.

At first the images where divided into two folders 100NCD80 and 100NCD802...Which wasn't the problem. I got rid of the second folder and renamed all pictures and now when I check the image playback theres still only 138 photos, but some of the images that are shown are different.

Example: I took pictures from Christmas then took pictures from Church yesterday.

Before combining the folders I could see the church photos, but Christmas pictures weren't there. After combining some of the church photos are gone and now I can see some but not all of the Christmas photos.

I copied all the photos to my desktop, formated the card in the camera, and pasted the photos back onto the card, but it's the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
