I have a PSP 1000 I've had for years now, but it has sat in a drawer for quite some time, and I'd like to get some use out of it (or sell it if that proves too difficult). I'm mostly interested in getting it set up at least to play the Tactics Ogre rerelease, but being able to load whatever else is out would be even better. Currently the system is on 5.00 M33-6, and I have no idea how current that is or what I need to do to get up-to-date. I read the stickies but the terms used left me just as confused. I'd greatly appreciate assistance getting myself back into gaming!

Forget the stickies, they are OLD.
You need 6.39 ME v8:

Just follow the readme, three easy steps.
Oh yea, you will need this here, too:

Xbox 360: On my fourth console, first one rrod 3 times, second one sold at ebay because of no HDMI, third one rrod during flashing (supposedly killed that drive), fourth one up and working on LT 3.0
PSP: Slim&Lite 2004 model with 6,60 ME v1.3
PS3: 60 Gig Model with the latest official firmware for going online and a modified case for better cooling
PSVita: Need some games for it, just bought an 8 GB memory card at ebay, awaiting a Photofast addapter for MicroSD-cards.
