please i need a safe,easy update firmware for the psp phat

Hi, My PSP phat is at 3.40 OE-A but gta chinatown and many other titles are not working, so i guess i need to upgrade.
I am wondering wots the latest version to upgrade to, something that has a very low chance of bricking and can run the newer games...Just need to be able to play all psp and ps1 games on it.
i used the "easy 3.40 OE-a Installer" to upgrade from my 1.50 psp phat, is there any software like that so that i dont have to organise the folders since i am a freebie, sorry a newbie.. in psp moding
just to let you know i have read all the other threads about 3.40 oeA, but the threads are too old like 2007-2008 and we are in the year 2011. everytime i find a thread which has an update i find another update so i dont know

Use google to get Hellcats recovery flasher 1.60.
This will take you to 5.00m33-6 (still the best firmware),
then ensure that you have patched game files for the newer games,
or
get the iso tool 1.963 and patch your own
or
update to prometheus v4 on 5.00m33-6 (this will corrupt older game save files)

Really? Then 5.00m33-6 might not be the best firmware after all, I am on 5.50 Prometheus 4 and all my game saves are intact.
Xbox 360: On my fourth console, first one rrod 3 times, second one sold at ebay because of no HDMI, third one rrod during flashing (supposedly killed that drive), fourth one up and working on LT 3.0

upgrade to 6.35
get the Signed HEN. Start HEllcats recovery flasher 1.65 and downgrade back to 5.5 gen d3 and install prometheus-4 after

right then, thanks for your answers, so which one should i upgrade to
5.00m33-6 ? or 5.50 Prometheus 4 ? as long as all psp and ps1 games work, i dont realy care. and also is there an easy installer for the above named firmwares like easy 3.40 OE-a Installer so that i dont have to mess with folders?
