used PSP 2001 - came modded. Questions

I got a used PSP 2001 which came modded and a few games on a card (all games work). Under system setting it says "Sytem Software 5.50 Prome-4"
1. Should I update this to a current version? Which one?
2. Are cheat codes available for PSP games played on a modded console?
3. M2 memory sticks/adapter are expensive. Is there anyway to use SDHC and an adapter in the memory slot?

3: Photofast addapter, either from ebay or from one of these chinese shops.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Recently updated to PS3 slim 160 GB (60 GB phat still working)
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: DOL-001 model put in a DOL-101 case. Otherwise unmodified. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
