after replacing laser, xbox says open tray..

Hi, i have a modded xbox 360.. was playing original and backups.. but a few were starting to have trouble loading... i assumed a new laser was needed as my son had replaced his laser and that solved the problem for him...

he replaced the laser.. and now all i get is open tray when i try to load a game... it won't play backups or originals... so i thought it could be a bad laser i had bought from ebay and so i put the old one back in but that is also saying open tray.. so now it's broken completely... does anyone know what the problem could be?? i have a 5 year old driving me up the wall waiting for it to get fixed lol...

I bought a laser that said for benq drive hop-141x (vad6038)... but another ebay site said that laser fits DG-16D2S which is the lite-on model i have

if u do as dagdaniel says it shud run fine, i just replaced my laser and it was doing the exact same as urs just get a guide n tweak it up :)

I concur with wabashman. Brand new lasers typically have a anti static solder point that needs to be removed. Grab your soldering iron...it's quite easy.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
