Another new MS detection method? XGD3 games suddenly not booting for many

#1 16 Nov 2011 @ 20:26
A lot of people have suddenly found that their XGD3 games and AP2.5 protected XGD2 games suddenly don't boot, even though the dashboard hasn't been updated. Their consoles have also been flagged for bans. Check this thread here: -

http://www.ixtreme.net/open-forum/18685-disc-not-supported.html

There's another thread that's just been started on Xbox-Scene which will no doubt grow larger as people report the same problem.

My guess is that MS are now updating the DAE table silently over Live. Anyway, you have been warned! I would advise staying off Xbox Live until we know what's going on.

wow i thought it was just me that was having that problem , i tried to play modern warfare 3 about a hour ago but 3 hours before that it was running perfectly fine

the drive reads the game you can see the picture of the modern warfare 3

Yeah, this is definitely some kind of new protection/detection as too many people have already posted about the problem for it to just be a coincidence.

I reckon that last dashboard update was preparation for this.

I was actually expecting this with the new popular games being released. The ban wave 2 years ago was around this time of year too. With the new XDG3 format I knew it would happen and we'd end up likely on a ban wave. Here we go again another new xbox and some offline games to play in the meantime.

This always happens around the Call of Duty releases.

I'll stay off live and see for now.

Good thing I waited a while before ordering everything. I got games downloaded but haven't burned them yet so MW3 will not be anytime soon when I'm done. BTW is this coming from everyone or just those who hasn't used BurnerMax completing 100% of the burn?

everyone with mw3,silent update, not going online, maybe new checks, seems like abgx is gonna be busy now

It's affecting Burner Max users as well as those that used the truncate method.

It does seem that dae.bin has been updated either via a title update for a game (possibly MW3), or just silently over Xbox Live. The effects we're seeing are all AP2.5 related, so I'm 90% sure that it's that.

If that is true, it's going to make it very difficult for users of flashed consoles in the future, as c4eva has been unable to defeat AP2.5 completely and has said that it's not possible due to the huge combination of possible checks. We were OK in the past because we knew that dae.bin was only updated in some dashboard updates. If it can be updated at any time without us even knowing, then it's going to make things a huge PITA for those that use backups on Xbox Live.

Yes no doubt this will be a major PITA... oh well we shall see what happens.. I was up and running then all of a sudden.. BAM! down goes Frazier!

Interesting indeed....

Do we know if it originated with Modern Warfare 3? Are all XGD3 games causing this?

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

This is not good, especially the part I've made bold: -

Quote:
First and foremost, a warning ? at this current time it is advised that you stay offline and avoid playing any AP2.5/XGD3 backups. It has been confirmed by the team that the dae.bin is now being silently updated on all LIVE-connected boxes.

This update is not being deployed via a SystemUpdate or TitleUpdate, but rather occurs in the background without any visual indication or prompt to the user. As such, there is no means by which it can be cancelled or avoided, other than not connecting to LIVE. If you?ve connected to LIVE in the past 24 hours, your system has likely already been updated with a changed dae.bin.

All AP2.5/XGD3 backups that contain the now older AP25 replay data will fail the system?s AP2.5 challenges and indeed flag your system (the flagging has also been confirmed by the team).

Like our news a few days ago, the dae.bin is now being changed by way of an appended challenge table in the same manner on current retail dashes (13604) as it is on the preview dash (14686), however the content of the challenge tables differ. The team has determined that the appended challenge table appears to be unique per console and contains indentifying information. This means that everyone?s dae.bin is different, and can potentially be traced back to your specific console. Therefore, sharing your dae.bin with others is not advisable.

More info to come.

gonna keep my flagged console online see what happens,

Oh no...this does not sound good at all. Anyone familiar with the terms ECM? DaveTV? :( Same principal.

damn acr works and its xgd3 but saints row 3 wont boot crap

#17 17 Nov 2011 @ 2:46
Saints Row works for me along with Batman, but nothing else (Skyrim, MW3, ACR) works. Wish I could just take the thing offline and call it a day. Damnit.

[2011-11-17 07:53AM UTC] #c4e <c4eva> a solution to the per console ap25 is being worked on, as un-modded boxes are affected, will monitor the situation to see if there is a rollback

Hopefully there is a rollback. There are a lot of people on the official Xbox forums complaining about legit MW3 discs not working and even though some are probably pirates lying, I highly doubt all of them are.

You don't necessarily get banned just because you're flagged. Lots of unmodded 360s have also been flagged because of this, so MS have to be careful they differentiate between people playing copies and people playing originals. They overturned some bans a few weeks ago because of it and they won't want the bad press again.

Currently, you can't. You may be able to dump the dae.bin file from your 360's NAND, then use that to re-rip your originals with up to date AP2.5 data. You do own the originals, right? ;)

Yep.

I was just about to burn a game but now that I think of it there'll end up being new patches in the end for live so I think I'll just save my verbs.

thanks for clearing that up.

so if i revert to stock and then re-mod it to the latest flash then try a ap25 game will it work then?

as alls im really bothered about is continuing to use the xbox for back-ups and then ill use my unmodded console online now i know tht i can transfer a banned xbox profile over to a unbanned one and use it without the profile being banned

Eh, this is why I always say have one legit machine and one backup machine. Oh well, glad the fall update didn't come out sooner and made us update to play the new games.

Nope. The games themselves need to be re-patched with new AP2.5 data.

Problem is, when you recover your gamertag on the unbanned one, if you then play on the flagged one and go back to the unbanned one again, your gamertag will be corrupt again and you'll have to recover it from Xbox Live, so you'll lose all of the achievements you earned on the flagged console.

I haven't even went on live to get the read error (unless my brother did) but I have a failed AP25 challenge. I'll have to ask him if he got a read error on MW3.
