Difference between bin file and key

#1 05 Jun 2011 @ 11:24
Hi

When reading and saving FW prior to flashing Hit 79 I got the OFW bin file which was 256 KB and the key bin file which is 1 KB. I know you use the former as the source when flashing/spoofing etc but when do you need the key? It's just that so many people go on about the not losing the key etc etc but it seems that the bin file is critical file which contains the key.

Thanks

From what I gather, the Key file is used for correctly inserting the key into custom generated firmware with Jungleflasher. I believe it is also used by Jungleflasher to retrieve your key for you when you hook the drive up to re-flash so you dont have to do a bin dump again to get your key.

Thanks

It's just that whenever I try to insert the key file you get an error in JF I get an error message so couldn't figure out how or when it was used.
