Do all xbox 360 mods require you to be hooked to a cpu?

Have a friend who said he took his 360 to a person's house.
Within 5 minutes the guy had his (my friend) 360 ready to play copied/backups without having anything hooked to his computer.
I mean I have seen his 360 it looks just like it's out of the package and it plays his backups.
Thoughts?

the drive has to be hooked up to a PC to flash it to play burnt games, so either your friend is a liar, or he doesnt know what hes talking about.
Come talk with us on efnet at #afterdawn !!! or just click ME
ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

I concur with wabashman, you cannot mod a xbox without hooking up to a PC at least once.

I am sorry for the confusion.
The day he got it modded he said he walked up to the house, gave the guy his 360, the guy walked in the house and after about 5 minutes came back out and said here you go.
Now my friend can play his back up games on that 360 and the 360 looks as if it has never been touched.
So my question is...after watching the video, reading some guides, I am getting the impression that the 360 always has to be hooked up to a PC in order to play the back up games. Is this incorrect? Is the information I am reading old? I understand it has to interact with the cpu initially but after that is where I am getting lost.
Thanks.

At least one as some peeps only flash the once and don't bother with updates.

You only have to hook it up to a PC whilst you flash the drive, you can then put xbox back together and it will operate like a normal xbox but will allow you to play back ups.
Dont think you have ever had to leave it constantly connected to a PC to play backups.

If you mean the Jungle Flasher PDF guide, then yes. You will need a specific SATA PCI card with a VIA 6421 chip set to flash
Good luck

LMAOOOOO
Ive been reading around 10+ posts in the past hour shedding and shredding some light and i will have to say this one takes the nooborn cake!!! MAN!!! I feel bad but at the same time its a lack of researching.
DCACE, 5 minutes to flash is virtually impossible. Not happening. Dismantling and Mounting only takes about 5, and thats if your quick and have done this several times. Your friend lied to you, hes not your friend, lol jk.
Follow the guide bro and youll be alright. Plus, sooner or later you can start fabricating your own lies to your friends. Read before you bleed.
good luck.

it does only take 5 minutes, i flashed my friends benq the other nice, and it seriously only took 5 minutes, a minute to open the case, another to to get the drive out and hook it to the pc, and a minute to flash, and a minute to put the console back together. the joys of using a ck3. dont have to shut down the computer or anything at all. just hook up the drive, slide the on button, open JF read, and write. and your done.

I guess that's true as long as it's not a lite-on since the drive has to be taken a part. I have the xtractor pro. Love that thing for this reason.

exactly. still only takes like 7-8 minutes for a lite-on unless you have to rebuild some of the data with the bar codes.

A lot of peeps do call the PC base a CPU. Whilst us techies know the CPU is actually the processor, its a common misconception.

I love when people call it a modem too. That one is my favorite and then they think the computer is the Monitor! LOL

why get smart with me when you were the one that said an incorrect statement? its not my fault you think its impossible to do a complete flashing in 5 minutes or less when it clearly is possible.

I'm with wabashman on this. Its very easy to do it in 5 minutes, especially with a BenQ. I don't even have a CK3. Lite-Ons take a little longer for taking the drive apart, but its only 4 extra screws.
Screwdriver+Common sense+moving faster than a sloth=5 minutes.
Of course the first few will take longer, but once you get the steps down and aren't reading the .pdf every time you flash one, it doesn't take that long.

same here. I did two lite-on boxes on my lunch break today. Drove home, opened, flashed and back together and back to work all in the 30 minute break I get.

All the 5 minute guys rule and kickass! Wabashman i was being honest, wasnt trying to insult you. I seriouslly thought doing all that in 5 minutes was an achievment to be recognized, but i guess not. No harm intended buddy.

It is a achievement to be recognized. It shows that the person knows what they are doing. Before I got my probe I took my new box to a guy to mod it for me, I was there for 45 minutes and he still didn't get it done. I finally took my money and left, couple days later my probe came, I did it in probably 10 minutes. Reason it took so long was it was my first lite-on. I can do them pretty much just as fast now.
Its not hard, like I said, its just knowing the motions and knowing what your doing.
