Flash an Xbox 360 (2012)

#1 05 Feb 2012 @ 11:22
I have looked everywhere, and only threads I found are 4 years old.
I am hoping to get some help in being able to play my backed up games on my xbox.
I am looking for the easiest way to do this, being only 17 and not knowing how to do complicated operations with software/hardware.

so you have a slim? Read the JF tut that is not 4 years old. It will require drilling and about $150 in tools to flash. The slims are not for noobs and you can damage your xbox if you have no experience in doing this. You should have some skills working on PCB's and splicing wiring. You will need a TeamX PCB and a lizard tool.

First thing you need to know is what drive is in the console? Open it up and void the warranty to find out. Hitachis cannot be flashed or the liteon 1175

Could you please tell me how to check my specs, and how to see what kind of model it is? (Slim or what not)

OK. So I checked stuff, I have a fat xbox 360 (The big white one)
I also found this thread: "Fat" Xbox 360 Flash help

I am hoping someone can explain to me how to use the tools listed there in order to flash my xbox. Since I am a noob, I dont wanna risk doing it by looking at 10 bad youtube videos. I am hoping someone can give a step-by step explanation of what do do, and I will be very gratefull.
P.S. Cant post links. But the thread pops up at the very top of the list when googled.

Easiest way to do it is to have someone else, modshop, do it for you.

Send a PM to jpizzle here on Afterdawn. Or send him a PM over at EliteModScene. He's in near you in Toronto.

i live in windsor, on, approx 3.5 hours from you. if you want you can send me the drive itself and i will flash and send back to you with orig/dummy info. i will not charge you a cent. You just have to pay for shipping there and back..let me know.

I would very much appreciate the help. However, since this is the internet, I was hoping to ask if anyone can vouch for you or some such? No personal offence meant :-)

none taken..i completely understand...however i can vouch for myself in saying that i am not a thief and would never do that to anyone. I just enjoy doing these sort of things...but like i said, it is up to you so whatever you do decide, just let me know and good luck in your flashing ventures.

I love how you care. At all.
and its new, because they replaced it after last one I had got a RROD

I would have no problem sending my drive to 98sohc. He is a well known senior member here and being that he is very close to you it should be a day topps for it to get done and get back to you. It only takes 2 minutes to flash a drive, if you have the tools.

Depending on what drive it is, I would do it myself. A Lite-On drive I would let someone do for me if I had no experience, but Hitachis, Samsungs or BenQs are pretty easy to flash. Just get the JF users's guide from http://www.jungleflasher.net/ to identify your drive.

Xbox 360: On my fourth console, first one rrod 3 times, second one sold at ebay because of no HDMI, third one rrod during flashing (supposedly killed that drive), fourth one up and working on LT 3.0
PSP: Slim&Lite 2004 model with 6,60 ME v1.3
PS3: 60 Gig Model with the latest official firmware for going online and a modified case for better cooling
PSVita: Need some games for it, just bought an 8 GB memory card at ebay, awaiting a Photofast addapter for MicroSD-cards.

Wrong. They don't give you a new xbox. They give you a refurbed old one. Strike 2 for you noob. All the sticker on the back that says 2012 means is the date it was repaired.

It will say service date instead of mfr date if it's a refurb and it must be a refurb if it has 2012 on it. I haven't even seen a new one that had 2010 on it before.
