Well yes, recently I've been hit by the massive Microsoft Ban hammer. My console was banned so I took Walmart's Xbox 360 arcade deal into consideration and bought one this morning. When i put my hard drive in it, it recognizes all the gamertags except for my main. How is this possible? I plugged my hard drive back into my banned xbox console and it's there, but when I put my hard drive back into the new xbox console it's not. It doesn't make sense.
I don't think you can bring a gamertag/profile from a banned console to a "new" unbanned one, just using a memory card or hard drive, you need to recover the gamertag, staright from XBL.
Ok now what you need to do is delete the corrupt profile. (It should be there if you go to system then go to memory and then profiles.) Then after you delete it put if the hard drive isn't already in the unbanned xbox, put it in there and recover your gamertag. This is what I had to do.
Right after I posted this, I did a little more investigating. I saw on the new Xbox it had my profile as "corrupt" so yeah, I had to delete it and then recover my gamertag. All is well, thanks for the help everybody~

Yep no problem! And no you do not need to format hd, this would just be stupid and you would lose all gamesaves.
but you need your LIVE email & password to recover the ID correct? I can't remember what mine is & it's not letting me recover. Can we call support & maybe they can help me through this?
I'm probably looking like a moron now, but let me get this straight.
1. Modded xbox got banned with a 20GB HDD.
2. After gotten banned, I still played some fifa 10 offline(ofcourse) and during my game process I saved a coouple of times.
So that means, that my saves are now corrupted..Am I right?
Now I'm going to buy myself a new xbox elite(probably jasper) so it(s going to have a intel memory(lol no idea why I'm telling this)..but anayway is there a way I can het those savefiles to work on my new xbox?
