So I have a 360 here and for some reason it wont play any video. It has a samsung drive in it. I just plug it in and no sound or audio comes up on the screen and its using the component cables not the hdmi. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried looking around and seen a couple things about just doing the rrod fix on it to get it to work but I am not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also it doesnt seem to red ring or anything when plugged in.

Can you sync any controllers with it? Try a different component/composite/hdmi cable with it and see what happens. Other than that it may be something to do with the graphics processor chip malfunctioning. The x-clamp fix may fix this, but I've never had this issue so I'm not an expert.

Camping is not a legitimate strategy.

Funnily enough, I have just had the exact same with a friends machine, I was able to open the tray by pressing A, but nothing was displaying on screen. I tried various cables etc, but it made no difference. I have just done an xclamp repair on it as a last ditch effort, and it worked! First time I have come across this, but the xclamp seems to have done the job. good luck pal.

hmm maybe ill give the xclamp repair a try then. I actually have never done the xclamp repair before but I seen someone do it before and they didnt drill any holes or anything to make room for the washers. However I looked at a video on youtube and guy drilled holes in it. Thats not really necessary is it if you get right size? Cause I would prefer not to drill any holes.

Also if anyone else has any other advice that would be great. Thanks for the help.

Sweet maybe I will try that. So I would just need to put it back together and buy a new sticker and put it on there? I guess it could be worth a shot. I just thought from looking at the back of it where you take the case off that you could tell its been open too.

hi tmac6006

have you tried this:

Resetting the video in your Xbox 360 console
To reset the display settings to the default settings, follow these steps:
Remove any discs from the disc tray.
Turn off the console.
Turn on the console.

Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.

The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console.

this may help before ripping apart the xbox if its not needed.

I have just send a no video xbox (outside 1 year, within 3) in to get repaired based on your advice. I was contemplating trying to force RROD but Ive just sent it in now. Ill let you know how it goes. Ive mentioned in the notes, the e74 is kinda intermittent, fingers crossed that helps.

Cheers for your advice and keep your fingers crossed for me :D
