I didn't write this, I found it on another forum, and re-wrote it to make it easier to understand for those who are still having trouble flashing their iHAS drives, getting the "Error Writing Flash" message.

I (eebeejay) did this on my Vista machine and my 7 machine, and both worked.

This is a simple but effective way to solve the error when trying to "write flash" onto the IHAS burner. You would get to around 2 ticks when trying to flash the drive and then you would get the "Error Writing Flash" message.

If you are getting this error, the most likely cause is that you must switch from ACPI or RAID to IDE. Normally this is easily done through the bios menu (and that might be all some of you need to do) unlucky guys like me however, have to do a couple of extra steps.

My computer would boot to a blue screen whenever I tried to change the bios. So I dug around the net for a while and found an interesting guide that allowed me to switch over to IDE and successfully flash my IHAS drive.

Here are the phases:

1) I assume you have installed Windows Vista or Windows 7 with AHCI or RAID set from BIOS!

2) Download "this Registry Fix" (to add the IDE keys to regeditor) to simply apply the key.

3) Now the manually regedit part:

In Windows, Click START.

Tpye "regedit.exe" without the quotation marks, and launch it.

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Msahci
Change the "Start" value to "1" (eebeejay's originally "4")

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/iaStor
Change the "Start" value to "1".

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/iaStorV
Change the "Start" value to "1".

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/PciIde
Change the "Start" value to "0".

4) Restart your computer/laptop, and go to Bios (depending on your machine, tap F10, F12, F1, or the Esc key in order to get to the bios menu). Set from AHCI/RAID to IDE and save settings in Bios and restart.

5) Windows should be loading without the Blue Screen of Death (simply wait for it). Once loaded, Windows Vista/Seven will install new IDE drivers and you will see in Windows Device Manager that you dont have AHCI drivers anymore, you now have IDE drivers!

6) It will prompt for another restart. Simply restart, and go flash your iHAS.
