is it possible to run xmbc without chipping/modifying my console? it is an oldish 360 not sure which model - (can anyone help by pointing out how to check) and i dont think i will be interested playing copies on it so prefer not to - only reason i ask is that the 360 will not play mkv files so i have to convert the files or consider buying a wd media player which i might not need if i can sort the xbox to do it

They actually haven't gotten XBMC running on the Xbox 360. After the Xbox, the XBMC went to computers, and other devices, but not the 360. Might have to go with the WD Media Player.

thanks for your reply - shame they didnt manage to do it - thought it would be a given considering it was one of the main parts of the original xbox?
