I have just been given this unit to flash and the owner understands that the warranty will be void but i dont know what drive is in it or if it is indeed flashable??

I dont want to open the console and break the guys waranty and then tell him i cannot do it.

how do i tell what drive it has in it and would a unit as new as this be flashable?

Quick answer needed please, the guy need it back very soon

Many thanks

The manufacture date would indicate that it is a Liteon Drive. So unfortately you are going to have to open the unit up and check the revision on the drive label. You should be able to open up the 360 and keep the warranty sticker intact. just take your time and you should manage it without causing any signs of entry to the 360;

Depending on how/where the sticker is attached, i have been able to open them up and leave the sticker attached to the upper side of the case. most of the time there is only a small portion of the sticker attached to the bottom. failing that lightly heating the sticker with a hair dryer will make the sticker extremely easy to move.

there are plenty of videos on Youtube to illustrate this; I have read that the paper stickers change colour when excessively heated but i have never seen this so cannot confirm;

As far as i know, my understanding is that this database is merely for reference. You can examine it and see if there is a pattern to manufacture date, lot number, build team etc, and which drive is fitted. using this information you can try and make in informed decision as to what drive you are likely to get;

I may however be wrong;
