This may have no relevance what so ever but i sent away a never been modded 2008 HMDI premium console with a Liteon 7 series drive(2008).

Fault was DVD drive didnt do anything(could smell electrical burn..)

Console has just come back with a new drive replaced but its a 2005 Hitachi 47.. wtf?? why would they do this? More easily detected or co-incidence they have given me a crap old drive?

yeah this is true, i just find it really odd they would put such an old drive in there... unless there was a reason of course?

Never known them to have actively switch to Hitachi.. from a liteon.

I cant imagine there is a clever reason for it, considering the litones are harder to modify than the hitachi's

maybe it was just a random spare drive that they used?

I was thinking the same, or maybe its taken of a fubared xbox.

Doubt they would go back to Hitachi for security reasons, its obvious the lite ons are harder to hack.

A Hitachi 47... that things ancient. It sounds like that drive was pulled from another repair and was suppose to go in the scrap bin, yet somehow got mixed in with new drives.

Chances are good that you'll be sending that console back for repair in the near future because the drives crapped out.

I dont skinny dip...... I chunky dunk.
