I think it's clean now. I have to say, it's bad form posting personal IRC info on the forums, you won't see any of the #afterdawn people doing that, let's not have that happen again...

You should not even be posting in here. You obviously do not understand how the IRC protocol even works.

This is public information, nothing that is private. If there was any private info, then I would not have posted it in the first place. I recommend you learn how to read and learn what you're talking about, or get a good flaming from me.

Additionally, no one in our channel did anything like that. Man, you just pissed me off

So if my IP address was in an IRC log it'd be fair game to post my info on the forums ?. And what if it turned out there were our forum members in a channel somewhere and someone else here posted a log ?. I only say this as i saw something in there resembling a username from here..

edit- i'm simply clarifying, after seeing the first post you can imagine there would have been some people annoyed if they'd been in a channel and seen their IP details posted..

"What happens in the channel, stays in the channel" :) - it just reminded me of Fight Club.

I wasn't upset at you. You know how all this works, and you were going off of a request of another member. Don't think that was directed at you.

The point was to the other individual that they don't understand how this chat system works. Additionally addresses can be and are easily hidden on irc. WHen someone tries to say i've posted something "bad" or made private information public, and they know nothing what they are talking about, then I'm going to give it to them some.

As to your IP being posted in IRC, is it fair game to post all over... I believe it goes to intent. If someone takes your information off of there, and then gives it all out, tries to tell people to mess with you, then I absolutely think that information should be taken down. If information is given with no malicious intent, or to show proof of validity (in this case, verifying that stepto was indeed the man who he said he was) then I think it is fine to repost already public info. But that's just my opinion.

Regardless, going off topic, i'll quit it now. Just again want to make sure, creaky, that you know this wasn't directed to you.

It's ok, i wasn't fussed if it was towards me anyway, i knew you wouldn't knowingly post something out of hand, i just jumped in to keep the troops happy (hence why i asked the hypothetical question re my ip address). Didn't mean to imply that i didn't trust your judgement; it's a pain being a Mod sometimes, Devil's Advocate and all that :p
It gave me a good excuse to rattle off a script to give the poor neglected grey matter some exercise :)

LOL. I think the name was in the IP address, didn't see what the corresponding username was, the script was whizzing by too quickly :)

Creakster.. as this irc is being promoted and spammed in the forums as some affiliate of afterdawn forums... it's clearly against the rules to post any irc logs from it.. Ask Dela to clarify, because we have a long standing agreement concerning irc and afterdawn codes of conduct :)

all i have to say is this isnt the same irc room that several of us senior/addicts have set it. so i know its not associated with us via that. but...if others are claiming it is AD associated, then im with you scum101.
