Super NOOB Where do I start??

Hey guys, finally broke down and bought a xbox 360 on black friday.. Got a good deal. It is with Kinect and didn't know whether or not I should update it.. Well it did and I am also online as well. Now that being said Im an older guy that is just looking where to start.. Im a pretty fast learner and good researcher, but not sure where to start.. Seen lots of things from Google from soft modding the xbox by opening it to hotswapping it and not having to open it.. Back years ago I soft modded my regular xbox with a ftc files and hooking the xbox to my laptop.. then coping games was pretty easy... So im sure its a hell of a lot harder now.. Im not looking for step by step instructions here I can search for them, just want to know where to begin or maybe the steps on what the process is if that is possible. I have already read some things on here like flashing and burning disks.. not that I get any of that right now.. I would prefer not having to open up my NEW Xbox if possible.. But I will read the comments here and see what is possible and what is not.. Hope there is some help out there for a Noob to the xbox 360... thanks guys..

2nd link in my sig read the tuts in the 360 forum depending on what you want to do as for the 360dock or xkey or whatever they're called it's too early to tell if they're worth the money give em another year or more see how their support is,personally imo better off with a jtag & leave the one you have now for live

You're going to have to crack your 360 open. Also, whether you can flash the drive or not will depend what kind of drive is in there. There's a couple of new models that are currently unflashable, so as you've just bought it you may have one of those. The only way to know for sure is to crack it open though. If you read the JungleFlasher guide that's in the pinned thread that RIARA linked to, you'll see how to flash it. The 360 S models are the most difficult to flash though!

I actually have read the sticky... But problem is that is like Chinese right now to me.. Not sure what any of that means... Is it true that you don't have to open the box to soft mod?? Can you do what is in Youtube by using two games and pressing y and eject and then putting your copied game in?? What do you have to do to Copy games?? Im sorry for the questions, but its just hard when your been out of the loop for a while and things have serverly changed.

Dam ok.. guess I will have to decide on what I want to do.. I bought the extended warranty too and If I open the box, it voids any warranty right?? Not sure If I want to risk killing an xbox I just paid for.. Thanks guys for all the responses. Will have to consider on what I want to do...

There is a way round not voiding warranty,one of mine is jtag'd it's warranty sticker is still intact,there's a modding crowd here that i bought it from,if there's an issue they'll put it back to stock & send it to ms for repair

Well reading some more information I apparently have the 4gb Xbox 360 slim. And have read that it can not be jtagged.. however there is some reset glitch?? Is this possible and do you just copy the games to DL +R and then play them... dam I miss my old Xbox.. it was nice and simple..

So in other words its either you open the xbox, void the warranty and hope with some miracle with all the circuts and such you don't kill it and maybe it will get flashed and maybe it wont.. Yeah its either i sell this thing I just bought and go with PS3 or just buy these 60.00 games.. or better yet just sell it and be done with it.. great options.. thanks for the help guys...

easy now, settle down guy, you got your panties all bunched up over nothing. have someone flash it for you if you cant do it yourself. bottom line, the box has to be opened whichever way you go. there, problem solved. you said you were an older guy but, you sound more like a kid crying in the corner cause your ice cream fell to the ground.
