just got done doing this to my own 250 gig HD tonight, so i know it works. however, if you mess it up, do not blame me.

first section will be on how to flash the new WD BEVS drive, second section will be how to put your information onto the new drive.

formatting new drive

Items needed:
WD 2.5 inch sata drive (BEKT, BJKT)
cheap drive
HDD hacker 1.22
http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=11813.0
250 gig sshd.bin
http://rapidshare.com/files/299566562/XBOX360_250gb_hddss.rar

1. make a bootable usb stick and put on the 250 hddss.bin file, and hddhackr 1.22. (rename the .bin file to hddss).
2. shut down PC and unhoook all dvd/HDs and put in the new 250 sata drive.
3. boot PC off of USB stick
4. at command prompt type in hddhackr.exe
5. let it go through all the available sata ports and it should find the WD 2500 drive and list it.
6. select the corresponding number for it (mine was 7)
7. type in "f"
8. type in hddss
9. it should give you a new screen now
10. say yes to make the backup and name it undo.bin
11. it should ask if you want to create the 0/2/3 partitions. say yes
12. let it do its thing, and then it start flashing saying shut down computer, wait 10 seconds to restart, changes to FW will take effect after the restart
13. shut down computer, unhook drive, hook old drives back up and finish your day.

putting new information on drive

Items needed:
Original 20 gig HD
Flashed 250 gig HD
Xplorer360 for 20 gig HD
http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Do...e=details&id=77
Hacked version of explorer360 for 250 gig HD
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gq4gwu2nm2m

Steps to move profile from 20 gig HD to 250 gig HD
1. Hook 20 gig HD to PC. Start xplorer 360
2. Drive, open, HD or memcard
3. Make a new folder on your desktop labeled 20 gig, or something familiar to you.
4. Extract partition 3 to the new folder. I choose to do it folder by folder, skipping the cache file as it takes forever.
a. This will take a while depending on how much you have on your hard drive
i. Mine took around 5 minutes to finish and it was only for 7 gigs worth of info.
5. Extract partition 2 to the new folder
a. This one should take no time at all to extract
6. Remove 20 gig HD, shut down PC and hook up the 250 gig HD
7. Boot back into windows and open up the hacked version of xplorer360
8. Click on drive, open, HD or memcard
9. Open up your folder on your desktop containing everything from your original HD.
10. Drag and drop the folders back into the new HD in their respected partitions.
a. This will take some time depending on the size of your ‘content’ folder from partition 3.
11. Reassemble hard drive case with new drive inside.
12. Hook HD up to 360.
13. If prompted for an update, accept it.
14. Finished
15. Thank me for writing this…jk…

Nice job wabashman! After hearing ya in #afterdawn360, you must be happy that it's all done!

If I had money I wouldn't mind getting the 250GB installed. Though the 120GB will have to do for now!

Just a quick question - the link your provided on Amazon for the cheap drive is a BEVT series. Is that compatible with the latest flasher? I've been hearing it's hit or miss with these drives whereas the BEVS are more reliable. Correct me if I am mistaken as I am completely knew to learning about how to do this.

the drive i actually used was a bekt one from tigerdirect.com another guy on here got his from newegg and it was bjkt i believe. so this one should work. also the bevs series are limited to 120 gig i believe, so i actually need to edit that part of my guide.

Hey i'm trying this with a 60 gig hard drive, just to get my files off, but when I go into explorer it only sees Partiton 2 that has files. It only has 156 megs worth of files too which is not right. Partition 3 has nothing which is weird cause I have this drive almost completely filled. Anyone know why, It seems like I am doing this correctly.

Would a wd32000bevt work? I know its 320gb and if it works I could only use 250gb?

Edit: Found the answer out right after I posted this....Yes it will

Thinking of doing this for my son's Xbox.
Could you use something like DiskImage XML to just create an image of the 20 gig and transfer it to the new drive? This works great for backing up or migrating C boot drives and all their files to a larger drive.

Thanks

Thanks for the tutorial.. i'm having a bit of an issue.

i bought a transfer cable *that uses a PC, so it's not M$*.

anyways, i plugged it into the laptop, put the CD in and fired up the application "Xport 360", i was able to take backup from my 20GB HDD (after couple of tries!!!), i opened the backup file and extracted the Content folder (which has all the profiles, saves, demos, etc). i plugged in my 120GB, tried to restore that bit (using drag and drop), but it just keeps running on the screen for hours and then there is nothing got copied over!

i've tried it couple of times, and nothing.. then i tried to copy one folder at a time, but only worked for couple of folders, so i thought maybe the backed up copy was corrupted the first place, so i'll just do the whole process again...

after completing the back of the 20GB again, in shock, i couldn't open the Content folder on the 120GB using Xport 360..! whenever i click on the Content folder, the application just closes.. i got Xplorer360 Extreme along with it, i can open the Content folder, but i can't do anything with it! can't add to it, can't delete what's in it.. :(

i put the HDD back on the xbox and tried to format it from there, but it won't work!

and now i'm stuck and dunno what's next to do.. :(

anyone care to help?

Thanks

never had, never will.

update...

i was able to finally do it.. downloaded different versions of Xplorer360 to finish the job..

i've done a mistake earlier. i've restored the 20GB backup on the 120GB, even tho it said they license does not match, i proceeded with it..

how is that gonna affect me? i don't want to get banned cuz of that!

another thing is, now the hard disk is on the xbox, and i've only used 13gb on my previous 20gb hard disk which i transfered to the 120gb, why does it show me 46gb free only??!?!???!?

where are is the rest of the space gone??

thnx

glad you got it semi working. but you wont get banned for it. as for your free space issue, it might be because it copied over the stuff multiple times. you might want to open up the 120 in xplorer 360 to ensure you dont have multiples of everything.

Cheers wabashman for pointing me to this thread.

Just a question though. I haven't seen the folder hierarchy of the partitions, but you say just to leave the cache folder. Do you still need to create an empty cache folder on the new drive, or will the 360 create it when needed?
