Hey I was wondering if it was possible to update a banned 360 by using a CD or USB drive?

USB drive, yes.
CD/DVD, not sure, but I think so.
download the update from your place of choice. It will have a folder named "$SystemUpdate". Place that folder directly on the root of the USB drive. Once prompted for the update, choose yes.
I assume it works the same way on CD/DVD.

Alright, how about game updates being applied outside of Xbox Live? For instance, roster updates for sports games?
I am assuming that nobody has bothered figuring this out yet, or it isn't possible. But hey, who knows?
Anyone care to enlighten me?

Operation Sports posts custom and updated sports rosters for popular games. Just get the transfer cable, upload the files to your xbox's hard disk.

I´m not shure if I got it correctly. If I did I guess that solves much of my problem. So I can update games without connecting?
I´ve made the desicion of not connecting to Live again so I don´t risk hd functionality. But I wanted to update my games. I don´t play sport games, but is there anywere were they make updates avaiable so I can upload them to my hd?
Havent found anything about this, could someone please direct me to some source of info about it?

Yeah, I´m with this problem. I played a lot of Fable 2. Now I got the GOTY edition, but I can´t use my chars to play beacuse it says "this saves had been done with a more updated version".
And I can´t update it.
I whant to play the expansion with my chars!!!

it doesn't work for me. i tried burning it on a cd, a dvd, and using a USB drive.
it just doesn't prompt me to update.
maybe my 360 is already the current version? how do i find out what version it is?

I had the same problem where my system wouldnt update so after some wasted cds/dvds and broken usb i found my solution. What I did was go to the MU options where you check he stuff theats in the MU or HD and Im pretty sure you press Y and it brings you to the xcreen where it has a System Update file. I delete that file and just put in a recently release game and update from there, I do however for some unknown reason dont get achievements on certain games. Hope it helps
