Updates from C4E on New Dash: Update Process Seems Safe, AP2.5 Titles Not, LT+ WIP
>> C4E posted some updates about the Xbox360 fall2010 dashboard security on #FW@EFnet:

[c4eva] ap2.5 already defeated, backup fable 3 running fine on beta dash! more data required for analysis!
[**] C4 are you planning on releasing the new LT+ for the old consoles? ie. not slim?
[c4eva] **:yes

[***] c4eva, is it confirmed that current FW and older games will be safe in the new dash?
[c4eva] ***:unknown at present!

[c4eva] dash out?
[c4eva] version please?
[c4eva] so it begins, dash version please?
[****] c4 2.0.12611.0
[c4eva] very good, thx, same version im already working with!

[*****] C4 are you still working on hitas? Will they eventually be released =)?
[c4eva] *****:was working on it , not for a while now!
[*******] c4eva so there will be a LT+ for lite-on and benq drives
[c4eva] yes

[c4eva] ok, have logged the update process, analysing!
[c4eva] logged entire update process, no vendor packets, only standard inquiry and key exchange, so update process safe!
[c4eva] fable 3 not safe! ap2.5 active for that title with new dash!

[c4eva] as soon as we have enough data on ap25 then there will be something
[c4eva] testing more game titles soon for ap25!

How can you tell if a game has ap2.5?

Well here is my experience with the new dashboard today.

I flashed my LiteOn 83850C v1 drive back to its stock firmware and then signed into live to update to the new dashboard released.

After the update was installed with the new dashboard, I flashed back to LT 1.1 and signed into live again. I was able to play a backup copy of Modern Warfare 2 and original Xbox360 disc ok but when I tried Fable 3 it would recognize its Fable 3 but when booted up it says the Disc Unreadable Error.

My initial test was to see if I would get insta-banned by updating and playing a backup disc (I didn't, signed in fine), I tried Xval to see if I was flagged for a ban since I failed the Fable 3 AP2.5 check but the program would come up with "sec data error" as a result every time.

So after the failed Xval attempts, I just the swapped the updated Xbox's HDD with another Xbox360 that was not updated and still on NXE dashboard/LT 1.1 firmware, the profile with the updated dashboard came up corrupted.

So I assume I am flagged for a banning when the time comes or is it just a incompatibility between the two dashboards causing the corruption?

Sidenote: I tried my other Xbox's HDD that wasn't updated to the new dash on the Xbox with the newer dashboard, it still recognizes its still on the HDD and I can sign in using it.

your flagged, expect the ban wave to start in I'd say about a week or 2.

fable 3 and probably the wave 7 game like family game night 3

i thought corrupting the HD of someone's console was deemed illegal by the courts.
#8 01 Nov 2010 @ 13:49
Can these consoles still go on live after receiving the 'Disc Unreadable Error' ?

Here is probably a dumb noob question BUT some people may be afraid to ask so I'll stick my neck out there: What if you played Fable 3 BEFORE the update then do the whole flash to stock>update> flash LT and don't play it.

I assume it is fine since the checks is with the new firmware, not the old. But I hate assuming because you know when you assume you make an.... well you know ;-)

Also: Anyone tried any of the new games (ie: Rockband 3, Force Unleashed 2, WWE, etc)?

Anyone know what games other than Fable are using SSv3 and AP25? I've been playing New Vegas like crazy and I plan to flash to stock, update dash and then update to LT+ whenever it comes out. If New Vegas has SSv3 and this AP25 I'm screwed.

New vegas does not have SSv3 or AP 2.5 checks. So far we only know that Fable 3 has it.

So, one would think that all older games will work just fine on the new dashboard?

yup, we need to get our hands on a virgin disc before anyone can confirm the backup. which is something you should do anyway because pirating is wrong :)
#21 01 Nov 2010 @ 16:41
what are you using to check to see wave 7?
#22 01 Nov 2010 @ 16:58
OK so if I don't update to the new dashboard I should be able to play future games like fable 3 without any problems? I'm not an xbox live user but if dashboard stops me from playing newer games or the old dashboard is incompatible with newer games I would like to know.

new games will force you to update, they will need to be "down waved"

Quoted from the scene:

"Currently this would work fine (but you will only have problems if ur on kinect dash anyway) In the future when m$ force upd ala new wave(X) Then it probably wont as the checks are being done by the executable and the game will most likely won't boot from dash earlier than kinect (as they have done in the past - makes u think they've been doing it silently for a while.. )"
