Ok, so I know that you can buy a western digital laptop HDD and use HDDHackr to make it xbox 360 compatible.
I know what the program does though, all it does is hex edit the HDDSS.bin into the correct sectors of the disk.
So, theoretically, would I be able to buy any off the shelf laptop HDD (5400 rpm) and simply hex edit the HDDSS.bin data in myself?
Regards

if it was easy to do with all kinds of other drives people would have developed the software for it by now ....

Well, I took my stock 360 drive down to nothing, literally. It was all 0's. Then I inserted the HDDSS.bin data into the correct sectors, formatted it with the xbox, then played. It worked, and is still working fine.
