Will the Lite-on iHas 124-04 work via a via vt6421 chipset pci card?

#1 20 Oct 2011 @ 17:16
I am asking this because right now i only have an old desktop which only supports ide. I just ordered this dvd drive and i have one extra sata port on my pci card. I know i can buy an enclosure, but those are more money than the dvd drive itself.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

I would thinks so. But not with the card setup for flashing 360 drives. You would have to have the drivers enabled. I have not tested that though. I say give it a shot before you purchase an enclosure.

^^Agreed. With the drivers installed it should work and I can't see why it wouldn't, but as I've not tried it I can't be 100% sure.

Any SATA card will work. All it is, is a normal SATA drive. Any controller works

question regarding the new drives that burn the whole image... the liteon's, do you have to flash them with the firmware? and how? just as a normal 360 flash?

The FW hasn't been released but it will flash just like any other drive. I'm sure JF will support it or you can always flash with dosflash

I have the same qustion regarding using the VIA6421 card, as my desktop is IDE only. Definitely interested to see if the drive recognizes with the drivers enabled.

If you are using JF you don't want the drivers enabled, but you'll need a controlle with the drivers enabled to burn depending on what Teamx releases.

You don't use JungleFlasher. The guide has already been released on how to flash the drives. You can find a link to it in post 1 of this thread: -

I have a MOBO that has SATA ports but only IDE power cables. I bought this as a solution to my problem. http://www.amazon.com/2-Port-Splitter-P...9241731&sr=8-1. IDK if that will help you 100%. If not then you probably need an IDE to SATA converter.

I just added the iHAS drive to my rig, and it was recognized no problem by the VIA VT6421 card with the drivers enabled. Bring on Burner Max!
