xbox 360 elite problems/ decisions

OK. So I guess I am a "noob" at this. I previously successfully modded my Wii, and now i want to try my XBOX360 elite. its a lite-on or lit-one hardrive something like that, and it IS upgraded with the new Xbox360 dashboard.. its already opened. but here is where the problem begins. I don't have any tools to "flash" the drive nor, do I understand how to do it.. and should I just buy a benQ hardrive and switch them? would that be cheaper or what should I do? If you could make a list of what I should purchase to "flash: the lite-on drive with, or if you prefer that I should just buy a ben-q or whichever is the easiest to flash, thanks for your support

its a dvd drive not a hard drive
if you use xbox live then you cant swap the type of drive with the new firmware.

best thing to do is download and read the jungleflasher tutorial. it is a step by step guide for any drive type you need to flash. it tells you what hardware you need for your pc and everything.

II would suggest you wait a couple of months for the new usb flasher currently in development. That should make things a lot easier rather than having to use via cards...etc.

that will be easier but it will probably be cheaper to use via card.

ok sorry about the mistake , and i forgot to mention that my
DVD drive was DG-16d2s-09c
HW Ver: A0A2
FW Ver: 93450C

I saw that the methods used to flash the drive where a bit old, do you still have to solder it ?

yes thats one of the newer liteon drives that are a bit for involved the the prior iterations.

Yes, you would still have to make cuts, and solder the PCB on the DVD Drive.
