Hi,

I am running Windows 7 64bit on my PC, and previously all I rembered installing was Satsuki decoder pack and high def MKVs ran fine when streamed to Xbox 360 via media centre. Problem is I re-installed win 7 and since then couldnt play MKVs at all in media centre with just satsuki decoder pack installed as it needs 64bit codecs (im not sure what codec I installed previously, mustve forgotten about it). So I ended up trying a few different codecs and settled with just divx 64bit codecs as the MKVs run smooth on host PC with these, however when streaming to xbox they lose a HEAP of quality and aspect ratio changes to what looks like 4:3 (probably why the quality is lost).

I can't find anyone else whose had the same prob, havnt changed xbox resolution or aspect ratio which is still 16:9. I'm sure its got to be a codec setting but no idea where to start, anyone got any clues?

Well, thanks for everyones help it was much appreciated.
After reading all of your notes (well actually found another thread via google) I found I may get it 100% by uninstalling existing codecs and trying out divx preview as opposed to v7. If that doesnt work some ppl have had success with Haali

Will let you all know if any more probs

Well no luck there, divx preview is only 32bit, haali still makes videos look horrible and bad aspect ratio on 360. Only way to get them to look good is if shared via media player or ps3 media server, then I can play them on xbox media player and they look wonderful.

Wtf am I missing here!?

Does TVersity actually support media centre?
I found a forum about it but it was back from 2005 and they said they will try to support media centre in the future.

I definately can stream videos direct to media player in high def just not media centre which looks so nice.

I'm very confused by this thread because the Xbox 360 definitely does not support MKV containers so there is no way you haev ever streamed an MKV to your 360. You may be transcoding them on the fly and streaming them with that Satsuki thing that you mentioned but I have never heard of it and I am not familiar with it. I dont know if TVersity supports Media Center but it does Support streaming similar to Windows Media Player where you can just go to your video library on your 360 and select the computer you want to stream from.

Fair enough, I won't bother with Tversity in that case.
Yeah I guess media centre/player etc transcodes on the fly?
I just can't figure out why its so crap through media centre (poor quality and aspect ratio) but when shared via media player it looks brilliant.

I just love how well presented media centre is except it doesnt support subs from what i've heard.. There has to be some setting I can't find. I've found another site where some people claim to have it working perfect, i'll probably have to play around with my video codec settings, perhaps compare them against ps3 server codec settings..
