3.40 update and surround sound.

Haven't used my ps3 for a while and today I updated to 3.40. Prior to this my surround sound worked fine(using optical out and 5:1 speakers). Now dispite using the exact sound settings prior to the update, the key tones occassionally click when scolling through xmb and my films which I have stored on the hdd don't play sound through the rear speakers unlike it did before. Games still work fine through.
Is this an issue with the update or my surround sound (which works fine on my xbox360)?

Have you tried going through the sound setup again in the settings, to see if that would fix it?
