I have a inspiron 1525 and i'm trying to set up a network so I can play my music files through the ps3. both machines are linked to the internet using a wireless router. I have tried serching for the ps3 on my laptop in the network section. I have searched for wireless devices but nothing happens. I've been into WMP 11 and allowed sharing. In the ps3 i have enabled media server connection but when i search for a media server it finds nothing.

Anybody any ideas?????

Be sure to enable Media Server on your PS3 first before searching for it with your PC. If that is not your problem, try this link a few post down. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/619034

my problem is that the laptop doesn't seem to find the ps3. When i search for it nothing appears.

You have gont to the PS3 System - Media Server - Enable, Then PC - Search for Media Servers on WMP11? You should get an unidentified device on WMP11 after that.

Sorry, i thought that link had a good walk through for setting up WMP11. That is not the correct one. Im about to be leaving for the day. If you dont have it by tomorrow, let us know one way or the other.

I had enabled the media server connection and when i go into wmp 11 it has found no devices. the share my media box is ticked but still nothing

I have WMP9 hear at work, cant walk you through it now. Seams that you have to REFRESH or something for a new search. I will get back with you tomorrow. Maybe someone else here can help you.

??be sure to have DHCP enabled on your router??

got it. the microsoft help put me in to some admin screen and i changed a setting from auto to manual and it's working a treat.
