I am trying to figure out a way to play mkv files on my ps3, I don't really wanna stream, I already have another laptop that streams SD movies, but I really wanna be able to play mkv files. I loaded an mkv file, slipped in the thumbdrive and nothing happens, i get an error that says something like
"no titles available" or something like that.

please help.

You would need to press triangle on the Thumb Drive icon and select display all, unfortunately the PS3 cannot play MKV files natively.

However if you Jailbreak/hack your PS3, it will be able to play MKV files.
