PS3 fan WAYYYY too loud

okay i just bought a ps3 that had ylod and fixed it, now it works but the fan cranks from gear 2 to gear 3 and sometimes to gear 4. mortal kombat stays on gear 3 and crysis 2 goes from gear 4 to "you ps3 is too hot please shut it off". what can i do to fix the fan noise? thanks

Your problem is that the chips are overheating. THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE YLOD TO BEGIN WITH. If you don't do anything about it, you will just get another YLOD, assuming you have not done so already. The PS3 does not increase fan speed past "gear 2" until you are overheating. "Gear 4" only comes on when temperatures are at critical levels...and the overheat message comes at 85C...overheating so much that it shuts itself down to prevent a fire.
The issue is most likely a problem with thermal compound, either not good stuff or not applied correctly. It also could be caused by warped heatsinks and/or chip tops. Fix this issue ASAP...do not run the system like this or it will just YLOD again.
