PS3 How would I possibly flash the blu ray control board?

Ive read that the control board for the blu ray drive is married to the motherboard! I was wondering if there was a way to flash this board. Im sure mine is good but what if it goes bad? I can buy them all day off ebay but what about using it? If anyone knows anything pleae let me know!
